COUNTRY CHAPEL
CHURCH OF GOD
Building Appeal
"All who pass through these doors hear the distant footsteps
of the friends and loved ones who have graced this path before. In song and
celebration we note the faraway voices of our spiritual brothers and sisters
who lived in love, served in faith, and died in hope. May their precious memory
ever linger near to comfort and encourage. Amen. Come, Lord Jesus."
REFLECTING past labors, current vibrancy, and future hope of
the Country Chapel Church of God of the Abrahamic Faith, the above words
accompany a beautiful painting of the Resurrection of the Saints crafted by one
of our current members. Founded in 1896 and formerly known as the Hillisburg
Church of God, this family of faith, through both kind days and cruel, has been
consistently dedicated to serving the rural communities of this area in spirit
and in truth.
Many devoted men and women who called, or yet call Country
Chapel their home church, have gone on to take leadership positions in various
capacities throughout the General Conference and beyond. And several baptisms
over the past few years have provided a reservoir of blessing from which, we
are certain, God will call forth future leaders as well.
OUR
structural concerns are many
1) With some of the elderly among us now unable to get
up steps, we find a great need for a handicap ramp.
2) Not even
the most aged in our group can remember the last time new shingles were put on
the sanctuary roof, and we are beginning to see several leaks.
3) The siding
on the old part of the building consists of the original walnut slats attached
when the building was first constructed over 100 years ago, and we are having
problems getting paint to stick.
4) We would like at some point to install a baptistry.
As concerns this current appeal, we are focusing on the
first two needs listed above - ramp and roof.
We at Country Chapel are extremely thankful and greatly
inspired by this opportunity. Our Creator has kindly answered so many of our
prayers of late, and being selected for this appeal is a truly special answer
for an urgent need. We are ever so grateful for your concern. God bless you as
you hold us in your prayers.

Church Builders League is a plan for sharing the cost of
facilities for new and existing churches from which the gospel of Jesus Christ
and the Kingdom of God can be preached.
The Church Builders League was organized in 1957 by action
of General Conference delegates.
Requests for assistance are submitted to the General Conference Board of Directors. The Board reviews each application on the basis of standards adopted by the delegates. Church builders assistance is used primarily for these congregations:
·
New churches to help with start up and operating
expenses.
·
Groups buying or constructing church buildings which
have not owned a building previously.
·
Groups which are meeting in a building of their own
that is not specifically suitable for worshipping, and are buying or
constructing church buildings.
·
Groups relocating to a more desirable site.
·
Groups purchasing land for a new building.
·
Groups which have outgrown their present facilities
and are enlarging, buying, rebuilding, or exchanging.
·
Groups in need of serious repairs to their current
facility which meet appropriate guidelines.

Two appeals per year are sent - in the Fall and Spring.
Members of the League are asked to contribute $25 or more to each appeal. At
the present time, there are nearly 900 members of the Church Builders League
with approximately 75% of the members participating on a regular basis. The
combined gifts of the Church Builders League members will provide much-needed
funds for the Country Chapel Church of God.
Thank you for your response to this appeal!
